Glady Ruth Hill, oldest child of Moses and Frances Stancil Hill, was born on September 10, 1920, in O'Neals Township in Johnston County, North Carolina.
In the 1940s, she married Vernon Brunel Wright, with whom she had six children.
Vernon was born October 6, 1919, in Benson, Johnston County to Valmore Wright and Maggie Corbett Wright.
He lived in Escambia County, Florida, in 1940, and then in Nash County, North Carolina, in 1957. He served proudly in the United States Navy during World War II. He held the rank of Chief Aviation Machinist’s Mate (ADC), a senior enlisted position responsible for maintaining and repairing aircraft engines—critical work during the height of wartime aviation.
After the war, Vernon and Glady built a life rooted in family and quiet strength.
Vernon passed away at 77 on July 6, 1997, in Jacksonville, Florida. He is laid to rest in Riverside Memorial Park at 7242 Normandy Boulevard, a testament to a life of service and dedication.
Glady died on June 26, 2001, in Jacksonville and is buried next to her beloved Vernon in Riverside Memorial Park.
