Billy Royce Pittman, a kind and well-respected man, was born on May 10, 1930, in Johnston County, North Carolina, the son of Fletcher and Gertrude Stancil Pittman. Billy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean Conflict.

He enlisted on January 1, 1951, and after being sworn in at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, was immediately sent for basic training to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, the Air Force's largest training wing. Following basic training, Billy underwent three months of Air Police Training at Tyndall Air Force Base near Panama City, Florida. This role, later known as Security Police, was one he embraced.

Before his military service, Billy was dating Jackie Underwood. Their love blossomed, and they decided to marry on April 20, 1951. On their special day, Billy proudly wore his Air Force uniform.

During his time in the Air Force, Billy was stationed with the 509th Bombardment Wing at Walker Air Force Base near Roswell, New Mexico, the largest Strategic Air Command Base. He enjoyed the responsibilities of his security work and served until his honorable discharge in 1955. For a period, he even considered re-enlisting, a testament to his dedication.

Life after the Air Force brought Billy many joys. He cherished spending time at the beach with his family, embarking on trips with his beloved wife Jackie, and finding solace in working in his yard and garden. Over his career as a salesman at Pritchard Paint and Glass, and later at Carolina Glass and Mirror in Raleigh, Billy built lasting friendships with his colleagues and customers, enjoying the opportunity to connect with people.

Billy and Jackie were also dedicated attendees of the Stancil Family Reunions, valuing their connections with family.

In a profound display of love and commitment, Billy became the devoted caregiver for his wife Jackie when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. He dedicated himself to her care until her passing.

Billy was the proud father of Tim Pittman and Gail Pittman and the loving grandfather of Alexandra and Jordan.
