Cecil Warren Stancil, born to the late Glenn Warren Stancil and Erma Lee Stancil, was born June 4, 1943, in Johnston County, North Carolina. Dr. Woodard and three dedicated nurses assisted in his delivery in Kenly.
Cecil grew up to be a pillar of his community, deeply involved in the Oak Grove Church. His roles were many: elder, Sunday school teacher, and chairman of the building committee. His commitment extended beyond the church as he became a Mason, achieving the rank of past Master, completing the York Rites, and working with the Shriner Mini-rigs.
Cecil's civic engagement was equally impressive. He served as president of the Glendale PTA, chairman of the Glendale Recreation Committee, and past chairman of the Glendale Advisory Council. His professional life was marked by excellence as a salesman with O'Neal Steel, where he received numerous accolades, including the top salesman award and the prestigious Presidential Sales Award.
In recognition of the Stancil family's contributions, a baseball field at Glendale-Chapel Recreational Park was named Stancil Field on November 4, 2007, honoring Glenn, Donell, and Cecil for their dedicated service.
Sadly, Cecil's life was cut short when he passed away from lung cancer at his home on Woodard's Dairy Road in Middlesex, North Carolina, on December 11, 2007, at the age of 64. He was laid to rest with military honors in the Oak Grove Church Cemetery.
Cecil's legacy lives on through his family: his wife, Joan Woodard Stancil; his daughter, Ginger Stancil Williams, and her husband, Tommy; his son, Rodney Warren Stancil, and his wife, Candace; his brother, Wayne Stancil, and his wife, Wanda; his grandchildren, Garrett Warren Stancil, Tyler Williams, Chase Lee Stancil, and Victoria Gray Williams; his sister-in-law, Mena Sullivan, and her husband, Danny; and his nephew, Dustin Stancil.
Cecil Warren Stancil's life was a testament to dedication, service, and love for his community and family. His memory continues to inspire those who knew him.
