Edgar Resley Hill's story begins in Johnston County, North Carolina, on August 12, 1903. Born to Fred and Tempy Ann Stancil Hill, he grew up in the heartland of North Carolina, a state rich with history and tradition.

First Marriage

On October 4, 1924, Edgar married "Olga" Evelyn Davis in Smithfield, Johnston County, North Carolina. The ceremony was officiated by Justice of the Peace C.S. Broadhurst. However, their union was short-lived, and Edgar found love again with Mary "Randy" Jo Edwards. They married on March 24, 1928, in Johnston County. Randy was born on April 30, 1905, in Johnston.

Family Life

Edgar and Randy's family grew with the birth of their children. Their first child, Ethel Grey Hill Hayes, was born on April 29, 1929. Ethel married Thomas Ray "PeeWee" Hayes on September 15, 1950, in Wilson, North Carolina. Ethel lived a full life and passed away on December 8, 2013, and is buried in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Next came Kenneth Ray Hill, born on July 27, 1931. Kenneth served as a Sergeant in the Army during the Korean War, showing his bravery and dedication. He married Frances Elaine Baltzegar on December 4, 1955, in Wilson, and was laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery in Wilson after his passing on November 6, 2000.

The family welcomed Joseph Lynwood Hill on September 16, 1934. Joseph married Barbara Marie Bass on October 21, 1956, in Wilson. Joseph passed away on August 16, 2013, with Barbara following on March 28, 2020.

Jackie Earl Hill Sr. was born on February 25, 1944, in Wilson. He married Maxine Jewel O'Neal Hill on June 20, 1964, in Wilson. Both Jackie and Jewel are buried in Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson, having passed on July 2, 2019, and April 16, 2022, respectively.

Their daughter, Janie Hill Joyner, was born on June 6, 1941, and is still living. She married Larry Joyner on July 9, 1961. Larry was born on January 13, 1942, in Wilson and passed away on April 28, 2019, in the same town.

Military Service and Career

Resley registered for the World War II draft on February 16, 1942, while living at 1406 South Goldsboro St. in Wilson. His dedication to his country and community was evident in his work for the North Carolina road department, where he started in 1931. In July 1956, he received a service award for 25 years with District Two of Division Four.

Legacy

Edgar Resley Hill passed away on August 22, 1975, in Goldsboro, Wayne, North Carolina. His legacy lives on through his descendants, and he rests in Evergreen Memorial Park in Wilson, North Carolina.

Mary Randy Edwards died on May 11, 2000, in Wilson, leaving behind a rich legacy intertwined with Edgar's.
