Henry Glenn Wells was born on a warm summer day, August 21, 1932, in Johnston, North Carolina. His parents, Noyes Genn Wells and Elizabeth Stancil, were overjoyed to welcome their son into the world. Growing up in Wilson, North Carolina, Henry experienced the simple joys of rural life. By 1940, the Wells family had settled in Springhill Township, where young Henry’s days were filled with adventure and learning.

As he grew older, Henry’s sense of duty and patriotism led him to enlist in the Army. On April 18, 1951, he began his service, quickly rising to the rank of Sergeant. His time in the Army was marked by dedication and bravery, serving his country with honor until April 1, 1954.

Shortly after his military service, Henry found love in Durham, North Carolina. On September 24, 1954, he married Leona Barnette, a kind and compassionate woman who would be his partner for life. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter.

Henry’s life was one of service, not only to his country but also to his family and community. He was known for his kindness, his strong work ethic, and his unwavering commitment to those he loved. His legacy was one of integrity and honor, traits that he passed down to future generations.

On December 25, 1994, Henry Glenn Wells passed away in Durham, North Carolina, at the age of 62. He was laid to rest at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, a place of peace and reflection. His beloved wife, Leona, continued to cherish his memory until her own passing on January 12, 2009, at the age of 92. She was also buried at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, reunited with her dear Henry.

Henry’s story is a testament to a life well-lived, marked by love, service, and dedication. His memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, a reminder of the enduring impact one person can have on the world.
