Patsy Jane Stancil Hare was born May 8, 1913, and died June 20, 1972. She married Freddie Cooper Hare on June 20, 1942.

Patsy Jane, daughter of ... was born May 8, 1913. Patsy was very pretty with jet-black hair.

She graduated from Glendale High School.

Freddie Cooper Hare from Pikeville had an eye for pretty women and set about to win her heart. They were married on June 20, 1942.

Freddie worked at a tenant farmer. On Sundays they often ate with Bertha and Harvey. Freddie drove an old Chevy car.

They had one daughter Brenda Hare. Patsy married Robert Hooks. They  had a daughter Michelle Hooks. Mavis and Vernon visited Patsy and Freddie one Sunday. While Mavis and Patsy visited Freddie invited Vernon to go out with him. Vernon declined.

Patsy died of a heart attack on June 20, 1972, she was only 59. Her funeral was at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Fred Rivenbark and Rev Joe Ingram officiated. She was buried in Elmwood Cemetery.

Freddie had a stroke and died on February 22, 1978.  He was buried beside Patsy.

59-Year-Old Woman Dies

PIKEVILLE- Mrs. Patsy Stancil Hare died Tuesday at the age of 59.

The funeral was held at 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon in Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Fred Rivenbark and the Rev. Joe Ingram officiated. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Hare is survived by her husband Freddie Hare; a daughter Mrs. Robert Hooks of Pikeville; two brothers, Garland Stancil of Kenly and Carl Stancil of Fayetteville; a half brother, Clyde Stancil of Raleigh; three sisters, Mrs. Mavis Stancil of Kenly, Mrs. Vessie Joyner of Nashville, and Mrs. Eula Smith of Staten Island, N. Y.; a half sister, Mrs. Gertrude Pittman of Kenly; and one grandchild.
