Early Life & Roots

Samuel Brent Price, known warmly to family and friends as Brent, was born on May 23, 1977, in Wilson, North Carolina. He was the son of Sammy Jay Price and Winnie Jeffreys Price. Growing up in the close-knit community surrounding Kenly, Brent developed a deep love for people, a sharp sense of humor, and a contagious smile that could instantly light up a room. He grew up alongside his sister, Amy.

Brent was preceded in death by his father, Sammy Jay Price.

Marriage and Family

Brent shared 20 beautiful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Elizabeth Price. Together, they built a home centered on faith, love, and community service. They were blessed with two children, Peyton and Luke, who were the absolute light of Brent's life.

As a father, Brent was intensely proud of his children and actively shared in their passions. He spent years coaching and assisting with Luke's youth baseball teams, mentoring young ballplayers on and off the field. When he wasn't at the baseball diamond with Luke, he was out on the golf course teaching Peyton the nuances of the game, passing down a lifelong love for the sport they uniquely shared. Their household was made complete by their faithful canine companion, Woody.

A Career of Dependable Service

Professionally, Brent brought his characteristic loyalty and work ethic to his career at BrightSpeed, where he worked faithfully as a service technician for thirty years. He was known among his colleagues as the ultimate teammate—always willing to answer the call, lace up his boots, and head out to help a coworker in the middle of the night, no matter the hour.

Church Leadership

As a deeply dedicated member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church, Brent put his faith into action. Over the years, he stepped up to guide others by serving as a church Deacon, a Sunday School teacher, and an AWANA youth leader, leaving a lasting spiritual legacy on the church's younger generations.

Antioch Volunteer Fire Department

At just 18 years old, Brent joined the Antioch Volunteer Fire Department, embarking on over three decades of public service. He rose through the ranks to serve as a fire captain, first responder, and eventually President of the Board. He was deeply influential in the growth of the department, playing a hands-on, active role in the physical construction of Antioch's new fire station and dedicating countless hours to coaching and mentoring younger firemen as they entered the service.

Passing & Resting Place

Brent entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on May 23, 2026, the milestone day of his 49th birthday. He was laid to rest surrounded by family, neighbors, and fellow first responders at the Bethany Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Kenly, North Carolina.

He leaves behind a vast legacy of quiet strength, selflessness, and joy across Johnston and Wilson counties. He is survived by his mother Winnie, his wife Elizabeth, his children Peyton and Luke, his sister Amy Beasley (Stacy), and his nieces Savannah Beasley and Emily Cox (Daniel).
