Josephine Hill Parrish, the third child and older of two daughters born to Tonie and Ludie Edwards Hill, was born on June 24, 1939, in Johnston County, North Carolina.
Her siblings included Braxton, Ralph, Phillip Ray, Billy Wayne, and Geraldine Hill Lewis.
Donald Parrish was born on July 9, 1941, in Johnston County, North Carolina, the son of Shepard and Edith "Edie" Massengill Parrish. He grew up on a farm in Elevation Township, Johnston County.
Josephine and Donald were united in marriage on April 22, 1960. Their union blossomed into a loving family with four daughters: Melody Jo Parrish Baird, the late Donna Lynn Parrish McKelvey, Rebecca “Becky” Ann Parrish, and Cheryl Kaye Parrish Ricks, who married Chris. They were also the proud grandparents of Keelan Baird, Tanner Baird, Tyler Ricks, and Emily Ricks.
Their daughter, Donna Lynn Parrish McKelvey, born on September 22, 1961, in Johnston County, became an insurance agent with Donald Parrish & Associates of Selma for nine years. Donna was also a Licensed Medical Technician. Tragically, Donna passed away at the age of 48 on May 6, 2010, after a five-year battle with cancer.
Donald embarked on a career in insurance, becoming an insurance adjuster in 1966. He later established his own successful business, Donald Parrish & Associates, in Selma in 1989.
Both Josephine and Donald were dedicated members of the New Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church in Kenly, North Carolina.
Donald Parrish passed away at the age of 70 on June 7, 2012, in Johnston County, North Carolina, surrounded by his loving family. He was laid to rest at the New Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church in Kenly, North Carolina.
Josephine Hill Parrish passed away at the age of 78 on June 20, 2018, in Goldsboro, North Carolina, at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center. She was buried at the New Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church in Kenly, North Carolina.
Josephine and Donald Parrish built a life centered on family, faith, and dedicated service to their community. Their legacy lives on through their children and grandchildren, and their memory is cherished by all who knew them.
