Lonnie Alfred Stancil, the fourth child of Samuel and Missouri, was born on July 1, 1897, in Wilson, North Carolina.
Lonnie was tall and slender, standing between 6-2 and 6-3. He had brown eyes and dark brown hair. He started smoking at an early age and became a chain smoker. Lonnie was known as a kind, gentle, and lovable person you could count on.
Meeting Susy
Lonnie met Susan "Susy" Pearl Renfrow, the daughter of James Thomas Renfrow and Effie Ella Lamm. Susy was born on October 30, 1898, and had naturally curly brown hair. Lonnie and Susy married on November 5, 1916, in Wilson, North Carolina.

World War I Draft
Lonnie registered for the World War I Draft on August 24, 1918. At that time, he was farming for his grandmother, Candis Howell, in Lucama and living in his father's house, referred to as Sam's old place.
Family Life and Career
In 1920, Lonnie and Susy were renting a home and farming in Wilson County, Crossroads Township. Later, Lonnie moved his family to the town of Wilson in Wilson County, where he became a successful automobile mechanic with his own shop.

Family Connections
Pearl's brother, James Graydon Renfrow, married Celia Rachel Stancil, the daughter of Lonnie's uncle, George Ira, in 1926.
Business Ventures
In 1928, Lonnie had a business called Wheeler and Stancil in Wilson. The family lived at 1033 Washington, in Wilson. By 1930, Lonnie was an auto repairman in Wilson, living at 1036 Goldsboro Road.
Loss and Remarriage
Susy died on June 13, 1938, at Carolina General Hospital in Wilson. The cause of death was cervical cancer. She is buried in section XGR at Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson.

Lonnie married Dorothy Lee Johnson on July 21, 1939, in Emporia, Virginia. Dorothy, the daughter of Thomas and Nicy "Nicie" Ann Holland Johnson, was born on September 2, 1920.

Later Years and Death
Lonnie died on July 16, 1950, in Goldsboro, North Carolina. He is buried beside his first wife, Susy, in Maplewood Cemetery. Dorothy died on January 6, 1978, in Wilson and is also buried in Maplewood Cemetery, in Section 2R.
