Mozelle Stancil, the fourth child and third daughter of Stephen and Ronia Hill Stancil, was born Dec. 1, 1920 in Johnston County, North Carolina.
She graduated from Stancil Chapel, and then entered Glendale High School for seventh grade.
Mozelle was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Johnston County, where she was baptized in 1934. She was active in the church and taught Sunday School for many years.
Claude Leon Narron was a neighbor of the Stancil family. Mozelle and C.L. began going together.
When Mozelle planned to marry Claude Leon Narron, her brother Bill drove her to Wilson, North Carolina, to buy her marriage clothes. She purchased a blue suit and blue shoes. They were married on Sept. 14, 1940, at the home of the Rev. Willie Renfrow in O'Neals Township in Johnston County, North Carolina.
Claude Leon Narron, known as C.L., was born March 7, 1918, to parents Claud and Callie Etta Jones Narron.
After their marriage, they lived with C.L.'s mother Callie for a while. Callie had become a widow when Claud died on March 24, 1940. Later, they moved to his grandmother's place. They stayed there for five years.
C.L. and Mozelle had five children: Claude Leon Jr., Billy Steve, Peggy Louise, Frederick "Freddy" Wayne, and Carolyn Rose.
C.L. Narron passed away as a result of a brain tumor on Oct. 17, 1969, in Middlesex, Johnston County, North Carolina. He is buried in Antioch Baptist Cemetery in Johnston County, North Carolina.
C.L. was a farmer while living on Route 1 in Middlesex.
After C.L.'s death, Mozelle remained in the house in Middlesex.
Mozelle Stancil Narron died at 54 on Sept. 3, 1975, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield. She is buried in Antioch Baptist Cemetery in Johnston County next to her husband.
She was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first. She was known for her kindness and generosity, always helping those in need.
