Billy Ray Sullivan lived a life deeply rooted in Johnston County, North Carolina, marked by his dedication to his family, his lifelong work, and his love for simple joys. As an only child, a devoted husband, and a loving father, Billy's presence was a steady force to those around him.

Early Life and Family Background

Billy Ray Sullivan was born on March 31, 1946, in Johnston County, North Carolina. He was the only child of Clovis Thomas Sullivan and Sudie Bailey Sullivan, growing up in the community he would call home throughout his life.

Marriage and Building a Family

Billy's life took a joyful turn when he married Linda Marie Bunn on March 27, 1967. Linda, born on April 17, 1949, in Richmond, Virginia, was the daughter of Gerald and Ethel Marie Boykin Bunn. Together, Billy and Linda built their family, welcoming two children: Billy Thomas Sullivan and Susan Raye Sullivan.

Career, Hobbies, and Faith

For the majority of his adult life, Billy found his calling as a heavy equipment operator. He had a genuine passion for his work, truly enjoying the time spent on machinery. When he wasn't at work, Billy had a vibrant hobby that brought him great pleasure: dancing.

Both Billy and Linda were long-time, faithful members of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, where they shared in their community and strengthened their spiritual lives.

Later Years and Legacy

Linda Marie Bunn Sullivan passed away at the age of 63 on Tuesday, December 25, 2012, at Duke Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. She was laid to rest in the Bailey Family Cemetery.

Billy Ray Sullivan continued to live in his beloved Johnston County until his own passing at the age of 75 on January 4, 2022. He died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Billy Ray was buried alongside his wife in the Bailey Family Cemetery, located at 98 Old Bailey Road, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, joy, and deep family bonds.
