Ed had developed juvenile diabetes young. He watched his diet and gave himself insulin shots.

Ed graduated from Tarboro High School. He joined the National Guard. Ed married Jean Petway on Jan. 21, 1960.

Ed was the general manager for the Justin Budweiser Distributorship in Wilson for 17 years and then was general manger for the Budweiser Distributorship in Tarboro, NC for 18 years.

They had three children: Valarie Lynn Hill born on April 5, 1961, Edward Warren Hill Jr. born June 1, 1966, and Jackson 'Jay' Petway Hill born May 14, 1970.

Jean worked for the Department of Social Services in Edgecombe County for 17 years. She was in charge of food stamps. Jean worked one week each month in the Rocky Mount Office helping residents of Edgecombe County who lived closer to Rocky Mount than Tarboro. Jean enjoyed her work and many friends.

Bill Jessup who knew Ed for many years asked him to return to Wilson and helped out at the distributorship. Eddie and Jean moved to Wilson in 1989.

For two months Jean drove to Tarboro and Rocky Mount as scheduled than realized she was spending too much time on the road and she would rather be home in Wilson.

In 1990, Ed had a heart attack and only had 14 percent of his heart functioning.

Forrest Hill Baptist Church was their church home. It uses to be Five Points Baptist Church in Wilson, NC.

Ed and Jean went to bed holding hands on Nov. 6, 1991. During the night, Ed had a fatal heart attack. He was just 48 years old.
