Ty Alexander Hinton was born in Ocala, Fla. His family moved to Northern Kentucky just six months after his birth.

He fell in love with sports by reading the Cincinnati Enquirer. Ty always followed the Reds and enjoyed watching games on TV and in person.

After living in Florence, Ky., the family moved to Prospect, just outside of Louisville. That was followed by a move to St. Clairsville, Ohio, and then to Cooper City, Fla. The final move to South Florida was in time for his senior year in high school.

He then followed in his father's footsteps when he decided to attend Louisiana Tech. His father Bobby and grandfather Berry both graduated from Louisiana Tech. Ty graduated in 2000 with a degree in journalism.

He started working in Ruston, La., for the Ruston Daily Leader in the circulation office immediately after graduation. He was the floor manager in charge of inserting ads and distributing newspapers to the carriers.

After three months he was promoted to the newsroom. He became a copy editor, writer and photographer.

In 2003, he moved back to Florida where he became a sports copy editor in The Villages. While there he was able to spend time with his grandparents, Ralph and Ethel Hales Stancil. Also he spent a time with his aunt and uncle, Becky and Hale Stancil.

After three years at The Villages, he moved to take a job in St. Augustine at The St. Augustine Record. He is now a planner for Gannett.

He spends a lot of time helping with the Stancil family reunion and he maintains this website.
