Happy birthday to Garland Stancil

Garland Stancil, husband of Doris, is turning 91 on Saturday, June 6, 2009. He was born on June 6, 1918, to Harvey and Bertha Stancil at home in Johnston County, N.C. He is the oldest living grandson of John Thomas.

Garland Served in the Army from Oct. 12, 1942 to December 1945. Drafted Oct. 12, 1942, spent three days at Fort Bragg, NC. Was sent by troop train to Camp White, near Medford, Ore., for basic training. Camp White was dedicated on Sept. 15, 1942, and deactivated April 1946. Garland was part of the 91st Infantry Division.
