Alice Stancil Price, mother of Sammy Price, mother-in-law of Winnie, grandmother of Amy Beasley and Brent Price, and great-grandmother of Savannah Beasley, Emily Beasley, Peyton Price and Luke Price, died at 97 on Jan. 7, 2021, at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield, North Carolina.
She is the daughter of the late Stephen and Ronia Hill Stancil. She was born Jan. 12, 1923, in Johnston County. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Price, son, Douglas Price, sisters, Mozelle Narron, Ora Price, Eula Stancil, Shirley Cockrell, and brothers, Bill and C.D. Stancil.
She was a member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in Kenly. She was buried at Bethany Missionary Church Cemetery.
“Cheri” Cheryl A. Willard Repecko, mother of John Jr., Kellie, Kendra and Kristie and sister of Sandra, Ruthann and Skip, died at 74 on Jan. 28, 2021, in Lynn, Massachusetts. She is the daughter of Lee Roy and Patricia Stancil Reed.
She was born July 24, 1946, in Boston.
She is the grandmother of John III, Lauren, Skyla, Mikey and Sarah and Ami McGlynn and great-grandmother of Shawn, Kylie and Thomas.
She was buried at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn. (Herbert)
James Robert “Robbie” Stancil, son of James Hilton and Karen Stancil, brother of Kelly and father of James Jr., died at 42 on Feb. 3, 2021, in Marietta, Georgia. He was born Nov. 10, 1978, in Massachusetts. He loved helping customers at Chick-fil-A and loved watching soccer, especially Atlanta United of Major League Soccer. (Oscar/James Orville)
Dolly Vella Godwin, mother of Michael, and mother-in-law of Nila Monnett Godwin, and sister of Nicole Stephen, died at 94 on March 6, 2021, in Wilmington, North Carolina. She is the daughter of the late Simone and Carmel Vella and wife of the late Elmer Leon Godwin. She was born March 27, 1926, in Louviers, France.
Dolly grew up during the occupation of her country in World War II. Near the end of the war, she met and fell in love with and married Elmer, who was serving in the U.S. Army. After the war, the couple moved to Wilson. She became an American citizen. She worked at Bissette’s Drug for more than 40 years. She was buried in Evergreen Memorial Park in Wilson. (Bessie)

Violet Boyette Starling, step-daughter of Liz Boyette and sister of Teresa Pierce and Milton Boyette Jr. and mother of Marty Parnell, died at 61 on May 13, 2021, in Kenly, North Carolina.
She is the grandmother of Erica Parnell, Olivia Parnell and Jessica Parnell and great-grandmother of Lucas Cole Finch. She is the daughter of the late Milton Boyette and Christine Barnes.
She was born Sept. 8, 1959.
She was buried in Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church in Kenly. (Wilbert)
Donnie Ray Hill, brother of Sherri Lynn Dale, died at 65 on May 14, 2021, in Zionville, North Carolina. He is the son of the late Ollie and Virginia Dare Barfield Hill and father of the late Christopher Hill. He was born July 27, 1955, in Johnston County, North Carolina. Donnie was a master carpenter and enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson. He is buried in Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens in Boone, North Carolina. (Delanie)
Katie Whaley Parnell, mother of the late Donald Meredith Parnell, mother-in-law of Sandra and grandmother of Joyce, William, Donald and Carlton, died at 101 on June 16, 2021.
She is the daughter of Fletcher and Rosa Quinn Whaley.
She was born Nov. 8, 1919, in Wayne County, North Carolina.

James Daye, father of Jane Daye Creech and father-in-law of the late Leslie Ray Creech, died at 90 on June 25, 2021, in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He is the grandfather of Sarah Jane Creech, Caroline Grace Creech and Rebekah Anne Creech and great-grandfather of Landon and Easton Whittemore and Lilly Grace Henley. Frances Pope Patterson, wife of Kevin Douglas Patterson and mother of William Charles Patterson and wife Cameron and sister of Libby Pope and Myra Pope Bridgers, died at 64 on July 29, 2021. She was born Sept. 2, 1956, in Wilson, North Carolina. She is the daughter of the late Charles Ray and Betty Lou Pope. Frances taught children in the Virginia and North Carolina Public School Systems for more than 30 years. After retiring from teaching, she served as North Carolina Senate assistant Sergeant of Arms. Loretta Muse Weekley, mother of Harold II, Russell, David and Allison, sister of William and Sue Lasley, died at 84 on Aug. 1, 2021, in Griffin, Georgia.
She was the wife of W.D. “Bill” Weekley and first wife of the late Harold Stancil, mother of the late Freddie and daughter of Fred Joe Muse and Kathleen Kinder Muse.
She was born May 4, 1937, in Lynch, Kentucky.

Ruthann Bowes Callinan, mother of Michelle and sister of Sandra and Skip, died at 71 on Aug. 10, 2021, in Woburn, Massachusetts.
She was the wife of the late Tom Callinan and Lawrence Murray, mother of the late Mary Ann Murray, and daughter of the late Clayton and Patricia Stancil Reed.
She was born Aug. 2, 1950.
She is the grandmother of Sean, Jordan, Joshua, Hayley, Michael, Kelly, Jennifer, John, and great-grandmother of Alycia, Jaxson and Antonio.

Mildred “Inez” Harlow Creech, wife of Keith Gray Creech, mother of Paulett Creech Davis and Sabrina Creech Wingo and sister of Faye Bridgeman and Frances Barber, died at 84 on Aug. 11, 2021, in Conway, South Carolina. She is the daughter of Lakie and Beecher Harlow. She was born Feb. 25, 1937, in Bristol, Virginia. She is the grandmother of Christopher Davis, Carly Carter, Lukeus Wingo, William Wingo and great-grandmother of McKinley Carter and Cayden Carter. Joseph "Dodi" Porter Umi Akau Jr., husband of Kathleen Yvonne Muliwai Stancil Akau and father of Joseph Porter Uni Akau III, Josiah Piehu Stancil Akau, Jodi Piilani Yvonne Kim and Joelle Pomaikai Frances Hussey, died at 80 on Oct. 3, 2021, in Kailua, Hawaii. He is the son of Judge Joseph Porter Umi Akau and Isabelle Mau Leialoha Akau. He was born Dec. 11, 1940, in Hilo, Hawaii. He is the grandfather of Alexander Kealii Hussey, Alena Kawailani Frances Hussey, Alapaki Kapilioha Joseph Hussey, Alakea Kamakaokalani John Hussey, Alanui Kekamahele George Hussey, Joelle Ponimoilani Ann Akau, Akilah Alaula Kathleen Kim, Alisha Kula Virginia Kim, Josiah Piehu Stancil Akau Jr. and Jayce Po’okela Gaspar Akau. Paul Bryant Kelly, son of Alfred “Butch” Bryant Kelly, husband of Lois Chafin Kelly, father of Brett Michael Kelly, Tyler Chafin, Noah Kelly, Tiffany Gentzel and Allison Chafin, and brother of Robert “Robbie” Kelly, died at 53 on Oct. 8, 2021, in Benson, North Carolina. He is the son of “Butch” and the late Janie Stancil Kelly. He was born June 29, 1968, in Raleigh, North Carolina. He had been in heating and air for the past 30 years. Paul loved fishing, NASCAR and visiting the Outer Banks with his family. Paul’s ashes were scattered at The Avon Fishing Pier in Avon NC OBX.
Tammy-Lynn Uilani Stancil, mother of Zachary “Zach” Kealiipiikalani Stancil and sister of Guy Shane Kakaa Keka’alauniu Stancil Sr., Mark Wayne Kalikookala Stancil, Charmaine Kekahaualani Stancil Lime, Michael “Mike” Dane Kenui Stancil, Danielle Healani Stancil Flavin and Michael Sean Stancil, died at 58 on Nov. 26, 2021, at Kapiolani Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is the daughter of the late Theodore Rudolph Kalikookala Stancil and Veronica Roselani Barboza LamHo Stancil. She was born July 19, 1963, in Honolulu. Charles Lynwood Johnson, father of Tracey Johnson and Tempie McPhail, died Dec. 23, 2021, at home. He is the son of the late Albert and Esker Bailey Johnson. He was born March 6, 1947, in Johnston County, North Carolina. He is the grandfather of Brooke McPhail, Zachary McPhail and Conner Godwin. He was preceded in death by siblings Tempie Johnson Larkins, Hilda Johnson Kotajarvi, Albert “Junior” Johnson Jr., James Radford Johnson and Linda Johnson Davis.
